Lobo Scholarship Fund

The Lobo Scholarship Fund provides financial support to fund scholarships for UNM student-athletes through a general scholarship fund. Funds raised help offset the costs for tuition, fees, books, and room and board for over 450 UNM student-athletes.

The single-greatest need within an athletics department is the resource to provide scholarships to student-athletes. Gifts made to the Lobo Scholarship Fund (LSF) provide scholarships for UNM student-athletes. With an annual scholarship bill of nearly $4.5 million dollars to the athletic department, the Lobo Scholarship Fund looks to offset that cost in full annually. Beyond the rewards of enabling athletic excellence and providing scholarships for our student-athletes, donating to the Lobo Scholarship Fund grants you opportunities for priority seating and parking benefits, amongst many others.

Donations to the UNM Lobo Club can be considered tax-deductible if unrelated to ticket-related purchases. Please consult your tax advisor regarding your charitable deductions.

Gift in Kind

Gift-in-Kind (GIK) allows businesses to donate goods, products, and services to Lobo Athletics through the UNM Lobo Club. GIK donations include the following: food, hotels, vehicles, equipment, and other diverse needs of the Athletics Department. The GIK program allows local businesses to donate these various items in lieu of an annual cash donation and become eligible for ticket and parking benefits. GIK donations may be declined if it's a product, good, or service that the athletic department does not have a want/need for.

In return for GIK donations, businesses will also receive the benefits below:

  • Positive exposure with Lobo Club members, student-athletes, coaches and staff, as well as future Lobo Club student-athletes and their families.
  • Listing in the UNM Visiting Team Guide (if applicable) - distributed to ALL visiting teams.
  • Opportunity to purchase season tickets for Lobo Athletics.
  • Priority seating at certain levels of support
  • Priority parking at certain levels of support
  • Gift-in-kind donations could be considered tax deductible if not used for the purchase of priority seating.

Current list of GIK partners…

Donated services or items (i.e. food and beverage, printing, hotels, facility rentals, etc.) that would normally be purchased by the UNM Athletic Department are considered gifts-in-kind and are always appreciated. All gifts-in-kind must be submitted in writing and pre-approved by the Director of Annual Giving.

Payment Options

Cash, Check, and Credit/Debit Card Donations
Most gifts to the Lobo Club are cash gifts and can be done by writing a check or using your American Express, MasterCard, Visa, or Discover card. Checks should be made payable to "The Lobo Club." Credit card payments and pledges can easily be made online by clicking HERE.

Gifts in Kind
Gifts of goods, products, or services that assist UNM Athletics by offsetting needed expenses. These gifts are tax deductible. Please consult your tax advisor for exact tax benefits. For more information, contact the Lobo Club at 505.925.2582.

Payroll Deduction and Bank Draft Withdrawal
This provides a convenient way for UNM staff and faculty to donate to the Lobo Club. By completing the Lobo Club Payroll Deduction Form you may specify the amount you would like withheld and the frequency with which you would like the deductions to be made. Please note that these forms must be submitted on an annual basis and that they are not renewed automatically.

Matching Gifts
Some companies will match your contribution to the Lobo Club. Submit your company's matching gift form with your contribution and it can significantly increase your support and associated giving level.

Estate Planning
You may donate through will provisions, life insurance and other bequests. Estate gifts may be made by donating a designated amount, a real asset or making a residual bequest. For more information, click HERE.

Securities
You may eliminate paying capital gains tax and receive an income tax charitable deduction for gifts of long-term appreciated securities.

Memorial Gifts
Remember a friend or a loved one with memorial gifts to the Lobo Club.

Volunteering
Giving your time is also always an option. We always need volunteers at numerous sporting events and functions. Please call 505.925.2582 if you are interested.

Sport Enhancement Funds

Sport Enhancement Funds (SEF) are designed to be an easy and effective way for Lobo Club members to channel sport-specific giving to specific programs within the UNM Athletics Department. These gifts help offset the operating costs of a specific sport.

Contributions to UNM Athletics may also be allocated to the sport(s) of your choice. You may support any of the 17 Lobo athletic programs by helping to offset their specific operational budgets.

*These contributions do not count toward ticket and parking benefits.
